Living, loving, laughing - enthusiastic about life

Enthusiasm is contagious, but you can't share it if you don't have it and you can't catch it if you don't surround yourself with it.

Enthusiastic people are those who smile readily, who really listen to what another is saying, are passionate about the things they believe in, are completely natural in their interactions with others and are living in the moment. They gather people up and carry them along with their enthusiasm for life.

These are the people we like to be around because they make work more interesting, socialising more fun and life more interesting.

Six steps to help develop your enthusiasm;

1) Counter negative thinking, try to look at the positive side of things. There's always good in everything if you look hard enough.

2) Do things you enjoy that make you feel happy, don't wait until you have time - make time. Make a list of things you want to do and choose one to start now.

3) Surround yourself with enthusiastic people, people who laugh and are positive about life will boost your mood.

4) Get inspired - do something to express yourself; read, write, create.

5) Challenge yourself and try something new, step out of your comfort zone. Always wanted to try something - well what's stopping you, give it a go.

6) Remind yourself to be enthusiastic, it takes practice. If you find your mood is slipping backwards then get energised by doing one of the five things above.

"Reasearchers have found that enthusisastic people have greater peace of mind, higher self esteem, a stronger sense of well being, better physical health and increased success at work and school." Tom Bay, Ph.D

I hope you have something to feel enthusiastic about this week.

Cheers, Fi

  5. I've recently made a lot of drastic changes in my life. With that, I've tried to change my way of thinking to be a better person. The things you've listed are things I've adopted in my new take on life...and it makes everything much more enjoyable. Excellent advice!

  6. Mr. Negativity tells me this is pure bunk, but I told myself....um...I mean I told him to shut the hell up.

  7. I debated my answer. While on the surface I agree 100%, it's also so important to be honest about your feelings. The reason I say this, is when I meet someone who never complains I wonder what they might be hiding, or because I personally do face challenges from time to time when I meet those who don't admit to the challenge I find they can actually bring me down as I'm not sure they can relate. Hope that makes sense without sounding too negative LOL.

  9. Hi Fi, Loved it. As I have already mentioned to you before, I agree with this way of thinking - like attracts like, if we hang out with negative nellies, pretty soon we'll be brought down to their level & way of thinking; surround yourself with happy, positive people & you find yourself feeling more enthusiastic & happier etc. It starts with ourselves tho so we have to make a conscious decision to make some changes, and the time to do it is now!

  11. Enthusiasm is good so long as it's not short-lived. That's how people end up in trouble :)

  12. @Audry: I think you make a good point about someone who NEVER complains. We all have to do it, otherwise we would eventually blow up. I think a person can face hard times, though, and release emotion but still be over all happy. It's when they NEVER see something good in life that they become hard to be around and effect your happiness.

  13. while i'll avoid having a "CATHY" moment and post this on my fridge... i do have my good moments, but that's when i become "dangerous" as my enthusiasm leaves everyone breathless and eating my dust. i'll just roll over anything/one that stands in my way. is this enthusiasm, or fanaticism?!?
    :D~
