I spent a weekend in the country and did what I should have done 12 months ago. I published my book on Amazon through Kindle Publishing.
Was I comfortable doing it - no, would I have ever have been comfortable doing it - no. So with a little bit of gentle persuasion from my mum I hit publish and now I can't be concerned about it. What's done is done.
First step is done, now I sit down and do it all again, write another one. I'm learning everything I can about Kindle Direct Publishing which is interesting in the way it works. It's all a learning experience for me at the moment.
My book is now available from Amazon and even if you don't have a Kindle, you can download a reader for your computer. All you need is an Amazon account and a mere 99 cents to read it. I'd love to hear your thoughts and would appreciate all comments which are put on Amazon.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!!!
I just bought it, have already read 1 chapter. Looking forward to getting into the rest of it!
Thank you - it's all a bit exciting, I've been talking about it for so long and now it's done
DeleteFi, that is AWESOME! Congratulations to you. I will buy and read your book soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen
DeleteHow exciting. I am so going to buy it! Can't wait to read it. You go girl! Now you just have to promote it. Make sure to put it in your sidebar, do some blog hops linking it up....
ReplyDeleteSo many people encouraged me to do something with it and I think you were the first person who suggested I publish it this way and now I have. I haven't given it any thought about promoting (talk about doing things on the spur of the moment) but will get it into the sidebar and hopefully people like it enough to tell people about it.
ReplyDeleteI've just finished reading your book and I thoroughly enjoyed every page! It's been a long time since reading the first chapter but the wait was worth it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you won't be so hesitant about publishing the next one. Congratulations on your first published book - I'm sure it's only the first of a wonderful new adventure.
Hi Fiona, I'm Anne from Life on the Funny Farm (http://annesfunnyfarm.blogspot.com) visiting from the TALU.
ReplyDeleteWow, good for you! I'm almost in the same place. Book completed, searching for an agent, but I might be ready to give Kindle self-pub a go. At an impasse, I guess.
Pop over to my blog and say hi sometime if you get the chance. Nice to "meet" you!
Thanks for dropping by Anne. I know the feeling about the impasse - I sat on my book for more than 12 months before going down the Kindle path. I'm glad I did it this way now, for a number of reasons
DeleteVery cool! I know I'm nervous about publishing too, so starting to "publish" some of my writing ramblings (not my serious work) in a blog is helping me get past that. In a couple of months, I'm hoping to hit that dreaded "publish" button myself. Though, at this point, I'm thinking it may be a relief because it means I'm done with book 1! LOL Congratulations!
ReplyDeletehello there.. ohh definitely this gave me big insight... yay! I am right now in the process of publishing a children's story / picture book(my biggest dream ever). and been sooo clouded as to how am i gonna publish for lower cost as I am thinkin of self-publishing.. I have books that contain guidelines into publishing and that pushes me and gives me pressure to get the real deal. thanks for this.. from TALU
