It's before 9pm on a Saturday night and everyone is home and tucked up in bed (including 16 year old middle son - Mr 'I want to go out'). This is a true indication of just how sick with the flu we've all been this week.
It did assist me with kicking my dirty smoking habit, so at least one good thing came out of the week. Now I'm just waiting for the hideous cough to go away, I'm desperate for a full nights sleep. If anyone knows of a sure fire way to get rid of a dry cough - I'm open to any suggestions.
It's been a huge week in the news with the riots in London and the stock market on a roller coaster ride and I've followed very little of any of it. My brain has felt like mush for most of the week and reading and writing has been difficult, so my post is short and sweet tonight.
Below is something to keep in mind for the coming week.
Another little treat from Nubia
Hope everyone has a great week.
Cheers, Fi

Anyone who quits has my deep admiration. I keep trying, but...
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, what a great achievement.
ReplyDeleteBoo to the flu - it's no good for you. Neither is smoking, come to think of it. I quit 20-odd years ago. I hope you feel better soon.

Congratulations! That is fabulous news re quitting smoking -- my partner, C.C. hasn't had a smoke in 3 months -- and I am delighted and he is proud.
ReplyDeleteI've never smoked -- but I can empathsize with the challenge of quitting. It is hard.
Kudos for you!!!!!!
Good for you for quitting! That is awesome. I have never been a smoker but many in the extended family have smoked and have seen them try and try and try to quit. I know it is no easy task. You will feel so much better SOON and your lungs will thank you for it. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWay to go!!! I quit 15 years ago. I refused to gain weight and so each time a craving came, I took a walk. I actually lost weight!! My most heartfelt congratulations, I know how hard it is.
ReplyDeleteYou should feel proud! If getting sick would get my husband to quit I would get him sick right away! haha j/k
ReplyDeleteWell done, Fi! I'm so glad.
ReplyDeleteYour tags sum it up - feeling proud and success. Do feel proud - what you've achieved is great.
Good on you for giving up smoking! As for the cough, I found a great cough mixture for dry stubborn coughs called Rikodeine - it has codeine in it - it works really well. Good luck with it all x
ReplyDeleteI am glad for you Fi! As a reformed smoker I know how terribly hard it is to quit.
ReplyDeleteMy method was to switch to chewing tobacco and snuff. Working in a closed building made it very hard to find places to spit. Things got so nasty that by the end of the second week I had QUIT.
Our 'company' made it back with a three plus hour delay. Karen left on Sunday night, the others on the following (last) Tuesday.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on quitting. Stick with it! I quit a little over a year ago, and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I won't lie; there are still times a crave a smoke, but I'm glad I don't give in! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteGood job, Fi, and congrats! I hope you're all cured pretty soon!
ReplyDeletehope you have a great week as well come see me at http://shopannies.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteyes, true - codeine based drugs DO stop a dry cough but stear away from them - they are the same "ine" family as morphine, pethedine etc and you know how they affect us!
ReplyDeleteAsk me how I know - been there!
Well done on quitting!
ReplyDeleteSucking chocolate squares or boiled sweets is good for a cough, as it keeps the throat lubricated. Just don't get addicted to them instead!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving a comment. So glad to hear you are feeling better - and that you are quitting smoking! (I smoked for years and have now not smoked for years...it's nice to no longer be a prisoner to cigarettes.) Blessings!
ReplyDeletekudos to you for achieving this much. i know i can't, so far...
