Sharing some wisdom

Wisdom arrived in my inbox tonight - so I had to share. "The main reason someone moves mountains, wins friends, influences people, amasses a fortune or anything else...is because they thought they would" - Thanks Mr Universe

Consequently I'm ready to move mountains (big, scary ones) and my advice to anyone who doubts that they too can move mountains, if you think you can't - then you won't.

The best place to start on the path to awesomeness - is believe that you deserve it and believe that you can. Even if you think you can't, keep telling yourself you can until you do. Simple really in a strange kind of way.

More wisdom in my in box which arrived quite a few weeks ago from Craig Ballantyne and I kept it because it struck a chord at the time, it talks about the story of the Koi fish.
As you might know, (I didn't) a Koi fish grows in proportion to its environment. If you keep it in a pail of water, it grows to be only a few inches long.

But if you let loose in the wild it can grow up to 2 feet.

Are you like the Koi fish that has been kept in a pail?

Is your environment stifling your growth?

Are you remaining in your comfort zone, protecting yourself from any risk, and fearing failure?
Or are you taking massive action, hanging around people that are better than you (and that will encourage you to "play up a level"), and at least taking baby steps to a better future?
I'm all for putting myself in an environment where I can grow - and that means taking action, which I am. I have newly percolating plans in place for an e-book and website, and as far as I can tell it's not been done before - not that I can find anyway.

I have a wealth of experience and knowledge - but can't share just yet, need to do some more research. I also have another book in the works which I need to get finished, so plenty happening.

So, what are you doing to take action?

Cheers, Fi

  1. I love that analogy using a koi fish. I knew that about the fish, but I never thought about how that can apply to our lives. What great wisdom. Thanks for sharing!

I'm taking action by joining a committee my vice principal asked me to join. I am on the curriculum committee, putting together next year's curriculum map (when we are going to teach each topic) and choosing materials our schools will use. It is a great honor and definitely something I am interested in.

  2. Keep it up! "They thought they would" is exactly right. I'm taking action by publishing frustrated poetry and administering guilt trips and 'coast guard as a career' propaganda to my middle child.
