I haven't even turned on my home computer this week, my brain has been so seriously addled by work that I come home and sit in front of the television at night in a daze. This week I've had a crash course in corporate property management and I'm seriously flying by the seat of my pants.
I have the utmost respect for the person who normally does this role, granted when you know what you're doing and you know all of the properties it's probably easier but sheesh. It takes me back to my former job where my phone rang constantly and I was on the go from when I arrived till when I left.
The days go quick which is a bonus, I should just about have a handle on the job and then she'll come back.
I have a badly throbbing thumb as I type this, I did one of those little kid things today and slammed it in the car door. I've actually split the whole nail across the base of my thumbnail and my thumb has gone purple - to say I did a good job would be an understatement.
Eldest son has come home this week and is staying with us for a few weeks while he gets his life sorted out. One bonus, it means my grandson is with us on weekends. Love that little guy to pieces. It means we're pretty full to the brim in our house at the moment.
Hubby and I are also investigating house and land packages at the moment with the aim of building an investment property. My head is spinning from all the options and choices and salesmen with questionable agendas. We secured a block of land on Wednesday - ironically the same day I became the property guru (who knows nothing) at work.
After regular contact and making sure the sales guy knew we wanted a flat block for the house plan we wanted, we wait three weeks for this land release and end up with a block of land that has a 2.5 metre fall from back to front and which is below the road level.
For those of you who like me are clueless about what this means - basically it would mean having to build a split level home i.e. steps in the hallway and with 1.5 metre retaining walls around the perimeter of the house - all adds up to lots more expense and lower resale value. Not ideal investment prospects.
Idiot salesman, I'm sure hubby is going to tell him where he can place his block of land. So we're still searching, suitable land for sale where we live is very scarce. In four weeks I've learnt more about property management than I ever cared to know.
My little chatterbox grandson has just gone to sleep curled up on the lounge room floor with his daddy, too cute for words.
So what's everyone else been doing to keep busy this week?
Cheers, Fi
I'm linking up with Cate who gives us all a place to visit and connect.

Wow, you really are busy...hope you have more down time soon, especially to enjoy the grandson -- meanwhile, hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI've been wrapping up our last projects in class. We have 3.5 school days left! No summer break for me, though. I'll be on the committee to plan next year's map for when we will teach what. I'm looking forward to it. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt sure does! Enjoy your weekend too!

ReplyDeleteHi, Fi! So Sorry about your thumb! I hate when I do stuff like that...
ReplyDeleteA few casualties about this week, Fi! My head was spinning just reading this. Feel quite guilty about sitting in the garden this afternoon. Sounds like you could use some down time. :)

I meant 6WS.
DeleteTime certainly does fly!
ReplyDeleteGood thing it is over. Praying you get some good rest this weekend!
ReplyDeleteBusy, busy, keepin' you out of trouble then...lol. Wow, an investment property that is a big leap. Good luck. I hope you find the perfect plot of land to build on. And nice to your have your boy back and grandson, hope he gets everything worked out for the sake of his litte boy. You and I both know how hard/trying it is being young parents. You are probably doing just great in your temp position...very versatile, flexible and smart...easy peasy. Hope the next week slows down a little bit for you. Take care.
